Class Descriptions

Animal Art Photography I (Adult)

 

Join us for a photography class that teaches amateur photographers to achieve the perfect animal photo. Nashville Zoo’s official Zoo photographer Amiee Stubbs will share her techniques and experience with the photography class participants. Don't miss this great opportunity! 

Ages: 15 years old and older

Class Overview
1. Classroom: Camera Setup and the Basic Rules
2. Walking the Zoo: How to take photos of animals behind glass, behind fences and at a distance. 
3. Special close-up, outdoor photo opportunity with an Education animal (weather permitting).
4. Classroom: Picture selection and computer post-processing on a computer.
5. Classroom: Q&A

 

Cost of Program

Nashville Zoo Members: $70
Non-members: $95

Materials Required

A digital camera (with the ability to adjust aperture/shutter speed/iso speed = typically a digital SLR or bridge camera).
Bringing extra batteries and memory cards is recommended.

 

 

Animal Art Photography II (Adult)

 

Pre-requisite: This class is based on the complete knowledge obtained from Animal Art Photography I.

Instructor Amiee Stubbs is an expert on wildlife and motion photography. She will share her techniques and experience with the photography class participants. Amiee earned her B.S. in Photography from MTSU, and her animal photography has been featured in various local and national publications. Don't miss this great opportunity!

Ages: 15 years old and older

Class Overview
1. Classroom: Short Review of Animal Art Photography I. 
2. Classroom: Adjusting to different situations. 
3. Walking the Zoo: Understanding animal behavior to improve your results. 
4. Lunch break on your own. 
5. Special behind-the-scenes photo opportunity. 
6. Special close-up, outdoor photo opportunity with an Education animal. (weather permitting) 
7. Classroom: Wrap-up and Q&A session

 

Cost of Program

Nashville Zoo Members: $140
Non-members: $190

Materials Required

A digital camera (with the ability to adjust aperture/shutter speed/iso speed = typically a digital SLR or bridge camera).

 

 

Unseen New World Photography Workshop

 

A large number of animals species at the Nashville Zoo live in the Unseen New World. Their habitats (Terrariums and Aquariums) provide a completely different set of photographic challenges from our outdoor exhibits. Join this new workshop if you would like to learn how Nashville Zoo Photographer, Amiee Stubbs, deals with those challenges. Participants will also get the chance to photograph special animal feeding sessions.

The course is limited to ten participants, so don't hesitate to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Ages
15 years old and older

Workshop Overview:
Classroom presentation: Terrariums and Aquariums, Challenges with Glass.*
Photography in the Unseen New World: Includes a special fish/reptile feeding session
*Wearing dark or black clothing is encouraged to prevent reflections in the glass.

Pre-requisite
Basic photography knowledge (Animal Art Photography I or similar)

Kids Animal Art Photography Class (Ages 8-12)

 

Join us for a photography class that teaches children to achieve the perfect animal photo. Children can use any type of digital camera for this class. Nashville Zoo’s official Zoo photographer, Amiee Stubbs, will share her techniques and experience with the photography class participants. Don't miss this great opportunity!
